Biography:

Alex Miller earned her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Bradley University in December 2025. Alex began her career in applied behavior analysis as a registered behavior technician. She has five + years of experience in providing services to children and adolescents diagnosed with autism while under direct supervision from a board-certified behavior analyst. In January 2025, Alex began her work in private practice, where she worked with adolescents, teens, adults, and families. Alex enjoys working with individuals of all ages who are navigating life with anxiety, ADHD, substance use, school issues, life transitions, and struggles with emotional regulation. Alex also values and loves working with the LGBTQIA+ community. Alex approaches therapy through a multicultural lens, understanding that your unique perspective and experiences are shaped by a variety of influences. Her therapeutic approach draws from motivational interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). As a clinician, she uses attachment based and trauma informed lens and views sessions as person-centered and unique to each individual.

In her own words:

I believe that every person has a deep desire to be fully seen and fully known without fear of rejection. This is how I set the intention for each session. My goal is to allow you to have the space to be completely yourself without having to apologize for who you are or what you look like. This is one of my core values as I have spent too many years masking who I am for the sake of trying to get others to like me or find me palatable, yet it always left me feeling empty or like no one knew who I truly was. As someone who is neurodivergent, dealing with chronic illness, and identifies as queer, it is such a lonely and isolating experience to not be truly seen or known for you are. If it were not for the accepting people in my life and guidance from my own counselors over the years, I would not be the openly goofy and expressive person I am today.

When I am outside of the office, you will most likely find me at a book shop buying more books than I can read (TBR pile who?), trying to find any excuses to buy more plants for my house and garden, or shopping for all the supplies for my new hyper-fixation of the moment and then proceeding to not touch it again for weeks or months, thus forgetting it exists altogether. I also enjoy spending time with my husband, our four cats, and our family members. I love spending quality time with loved ones and will always look for a reason for us to hang out. At the office, you will likely see me trying to carry too many things at once, having multiple beverages because I need one for caffeine, one for hydration, and one for Kombucha, and randomly dancing.

I cannot wait to get to work alongside you and guide you through life’s twists and turns. You are loved and you are worthy!
